wine review

There are two varieties in this Sicilian red blend. The first is frappato, a light-bodied grape local to the island, while the other is better known around the world for producing full-bodied wines, notably in France and Australia. Stylistically, the wine plays it right down the middle. It’s very dry, with pleasant grip and snappy tang, offering flavours of cherry, blackberry and herbs. Imagine a well-priced Australian shiraz, only not as loud. An intriguingly offbeat wine for the money – for adventurous palates. Available in Ontario at the price below, $17.35 in Quebec.
