Machine learning pioneers Hinton and Hopfield win Nobel physics prize

Scientists Geoffrey Hinton and John Hopfield won the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics for discoveries and inventions that enable machine learning within artificial neural networks. Hinton via a phone call said he was "flabbergasted" as he received the award on Tuesday (October 8).
