A look back at one of the NFL's greatest quarterbacks Peyton Manning has said Super Bowl 50 could be his “last rodeo.”
Much of the focus in the lead up to the game has been on the two starting quarterbacks – Cam Newton, the Panthers premier pivot who is viewed as the future face of the game, and Peyton Manning, a living legend who is already considered one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.

How they got here

The Panthers, riding Newton's hot hand, cruised through the regular season with 15-1 record before taking down the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals in a pair of postseason contests to land a spot in the league championship.

This Super Bowl marks of a passing of the torch between generational quarterbacks, from Manning to Newton, who’s widely expected to become the face of the NFL for years to come. Newton, 26, led his Panthers to a 15-1 regular season record. On Saturday, he was crowned the league’s Most Valuable Player for his incredible season.

The Broncos find themselves on the verge of capturing their third Super Bowl thanks to a 12-4 season that preceded playoff wins over the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New England Patriots. Manning is looking to go out on top – it's widely suspected that he will retire after this season.

Manning is said to be retiring at the end of the season, so capping things off with a Super Bowl win would be the ultimate finish to a storied career. Manning has been here before: The 39-year-old has made three Super Bowl appearances, winning once. He led the Indianapolis Colts to a 29–17 victory over the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI in 2007.

Super Bowl hype

Sunday's kickoff will bring to an end the always-monotonous Super Bowl week. Teams arrived in the San Francisco Bay Area Monday for six days of practice, events and media availability that create a sideshow like none other in sports.

By mid-week, it was clear the repetitive nature of the sports media cycle was getting to some of the players who had faced a daily barrage of questions from football writers and bloggers.

Newton, who made his feelings about the media hype surrounding the Super Bowl clear several times throughout the week, returned to the podium on Thursday, shaking his head for what he probably expected would be the usual run down of "can you talk about how it feels" questions. He lit up when a special member of the media asked the first question.

Who will win?

You tell us.
