The Vancouver Whitecaps will have a new look and a new sponsor when they open the Major League Soccer season later this month.
The team unveiled its 2023 “Bloodlines” jersey on Thursday, supporting Canadian Blood Services and featuring the name of its new premier partner Telus.
The Vancouver-based telecommunications company replaces Bell, which had been the Whitecaps’ main corporate sponsor since the team’s inaugural season in 2009.
Vancouver’s new jersey features a touch of red that the club says symbolizes both its Canadian pride and origins, with the original 1974 red logo featured as a jock tag.
From Feb. 16 to March 31, Whitecaps fans who register for an account on the Canadian Blood Services app GiveBlood and show it at a home match at B.C. Place will receive free personalized cresting (name and number) on a purchased jersey.
The Whitecaps kick off the MLS season at home against Real Salt Lake on Feb. 25.
