Canada will play for an Olympic medal in women’s 3x3 basketball after downing Australia 21-10 in a play-in game Saturday.

Kacie Bosch put up a team-high nine points for the Canadians, who were in fourth after going 4-3 in preliminary-round action.

Australia – which finished the preliminary round in fifth spot – got five points from Anneli Maley.

The Canadians jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never trailed, even when Bosch was sidelined for several minutes after taking an elbow to the face that required medical attention on the sidelines, leaving her three teammates to play without a substitute.

Germany and Spain also secured spots in Monday’s medal round by finishing first and second respectively in pool play. They’ll be joined by the winner of Saturday’s late play-in game between the United States and China.

Paris marks Canada’s first Olympic appearance in 3x3 basketball, coming after the discipline made its debut at the Tokyo Games.
