Canadian slopestyle snowboard stars Mark McMorris of Regina finished second in the men's competition and Spencer O'Brien of North Vancouver, B.C., was second in the women's event as the European X Games tested the terrain at Tignes, France.
Shaun White of the United States won the gold medal in the new Olympic event – which features rails and tabletops – his first victory in the discipline since the 2009 X-Games in Breckenridge, Colo. McMorris, who is reigning X Games gold medalist, nailed a strong final run to take the silver medal. Sebastien Toutant of Montréal, entered the finals in first place, but wasn't able to maintain his momentum and finished the day in sixth place.
Jamie Anderson of the United States won the women's division. O'Brien stepped onto the podium in second place with a score of 92.66. O'Brien is reigning champion on the TTR world tour on and the Dew Cup champion.
