Fiera Capital Corp. is adding another fixed-income fund to its lineup, and bringing on a senior New York bond trader to manage it.
The additions mark the ramping up of a business Fiera purchased a year and a half ago, when it bought a credit-fund operation from GMP Capital.
Fiera is rolling out the Fiera Quantum Income Opportunities Fund, aiming it at individual investors. Angus Rogers is joining as a senior portfolio manager and will co-manage the fund. Mr. Rogers spent the past 14 years in the New York area. He worked at the securities unit of Royal Bank of Canada, where he was head trader on the high-yield desk, and then at Jefferies Group LLC, where he was head of high yield trading and co-head of leveraged finance.
Bonds have been on a long bull run, and Fiera is pitching the fund as a more active management style that will include hedging and other strategies to protect investors, should the market turn.
