Bank of Montreal's investment and corporate banking arm hired Mark Wilde from Deutsche Bank to cover paper, packaging and forest products stocks in North America.
He will work out of New York as part of the U.S. equity research team. He will also add Canadian forest and paper stocks to his coverage list.
At Deutsche Bank, where he has spent almost his whole career, Mr. Wilde covered stocks such as Domtar Corp., International Paper Co., and Louisiana-Pacific Corp.
Mr. Wilde was a No. 1 ranked analyst in the 2014 survey of investors by Greenwich Associates. He has also appeared in the RISI Inc. list of the most powerful people in the paper business. In 2008, he ranked No. 48, cited for his "power to influence the investors' view of the forest products sector" and for his tendency to be "opinionated, vocal and not afraid to tell to the industry like it is."
(Aside: He was just behind Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, whose novels use a lot of paper, and who brought attention to the paper industry's attempts to be more sustainable.)
