It's been a dark November so far on the layoff front. Last week Canadian engineering and construction firm SNC Lavalin Group Inc. announced it was laying off 4,000 workers as commodity prices slump and global mining activity falls. Earlier this year the CBC and Bombardier also announced layoffs.
