What they got
This 1,408-square-foot penthouse is in the heart of Mount Pleasant, in the Olympic Village neighbourhood, close to Main Street shopping, the waterfront and SkyTrain stations. The penthouse corner unit has air conditioning, panoramic mountain views, a 650-sq.-ft. patio, a rooftop terrace, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, an office, 10-foot-high ceilings and a 20-foot-high foyer. Features include oak floors, roller blinds, white quartz countertops and high-gloss cabinetry. The 10-year-old Meccanica building allows pets and rentals.
“It sold fast because it checks all the boxes for unique and high-end features,” said listing agent Nicolas Blachette.
The action
The unit had originally been listed in the fall, but it didn’t sell, so the sellers relisted in the spring. They received the one offer.
“The winter weather didn’t make the rooftop shine enough to close a sale,” says Mr. Blachette. “We had few groups interested but today’s market is slow with a good amount of property choice for buyers, and few sales at the same time. We are in a buyer’s market, so you must be patient to sell and price it right and be available to show any time.”
The seller purchased the unit when the building was just completed, making a 50 per cent equity increase, he says. They sold because their family was growing.
The agent’s take
“This central location is growing very fast with lots of upcoming multifamily residential and commercial projects and the new St Paul’s Hospital few blocks away,” said Mr. Blachette.
The sale completed at the end of July.
