This three-bedroom bungalow less than two kilometres from Cloverdale Mall and Highway 427 was a popular spot for about 75 visitors, most of whom attended one of four open houses in April. Four offers were submitted and one pulled ahead of the pack by adding $141,000 on top of the list price.

“The market is so uneven right now, it depends on the week,” said agent Irene Kaushansky. “Some houses sit for a while.

“Having four open houses is more than usual, but we find it gives us more eyes on our listings.”

Buyers were also enticed by the larger-than-usual 52- by 125-foot lot commanding the street corner. “There are a considerable amount of 50-foot lots in the area, but there are some that are 40,” Ms. Kaushansky said.

“This one was quite unique because it’s a little bit wider than most bungalows, and it has a centre-hall plan, which you don’t get a lot of in the neighbourhood.”

What they got

The roughly 60-year-old bungalow has a formal entry foyer between classic living and dining rooms with hardwood flooring and crown mouldings.

There is an eat-in kitchen and three-piece bathrooms on each level.

The basement also provides an additional bedroom, den and recreation area with a fireplace and wet bar.

A separate side entrance exits to a walkway to a private driveway, attached garage and a gated yard and covered patio.

The agent’s take

“It really was a cherished family home,” said Ms. Kaushansky.

“The neighbourhood is very family-friendly, there are great schools, both public and Catholic, it’s not a far walk from the subway and GO Train hub, and it’s really easy access to Pearson airport, so it had a lot going for it.”
