The action
This two-bedroom house was one of the few properties on the market in June on the north side of The Danforth near Main Street. A price less than $1-million pulled in nearly three dozen visitors, primarily first-time buyers, over three weeks. Before the month’s end, one buyer struck a deal for $985,000, taking possession on Aug. 29.
“The market was a little unpredictable there, so we didn’t know what to expect,” said agent Irene Kaushansky. “We were happy to have it sold.
“Being detached and having a private drive was unique for homes in that price point.”
What they got
This roughly 90-year-old house has 1,020 square feet of living space and a detached garage on a 25- by 100-foot lot.
The home still has its original wood trims and hardwood flooring in most areas.
The kitchen has been updated with granite countertops, stainless-steel appliances and a door to the south-facing yard.
Entertaining areas are on the main and lower levels. The latter was enhanced with a gas fireplace and a second four-piece bathroom.
The agent’s take
“That pocket has a lot of smaller, detached, two-storey houses,” said Ms. Kaushansky.
“Our sellers did a beautiful new kitchen and had some work done in the basement.”
The property is also close to parks, schools and shops. “There are lots of families on that street,” said Ms. Kaushansky.
“It’s a nice, quiet, one-way street, close to the subway and GO Train.”
