The Action
Bidding wars are not as frequent in Montreal as they are in Toronto or Vancouver. But the past year and a half has seen an increase in such events in the Montreal real estate market, broker Christina Miller said. This stately 105-year-old townhouse in Westmount is a prime example of bidding-war action: The home was sold in six days and there were six bidders, she said. “There is low inventory right now for quality product in Westmount.”
What They Got
The house is an ideal family home, Ms. Miller said. It has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a spacious kitchen with dinette and a fully renovated family room in the basement. The hardwood staircase and upper landing are illuminated by a huge skylight. The buyers are a dual-income couple with children, Ms. Miller said. “The house has great scale. There’s not a room that’s tiny.”
The Agent’s Take
“The house is in one of these pockets in Westmount that does superwell for sales,” Ms. Miller said. Very little staging was done. “The palette we had to work with was a great start,” she said. The home’s other major selling points were the high ceilings and southwestern exposure, making for lots of light, she said.
