Today, readers are talking about Trump’s address to the United Nations General Assembly and the dangers of giving extremists like Faith Goldy attention.
From column Faith Goldy doesn’t want to be mayor of Toronto by Denise Balkissoon
The problem is that when our government and media won't engage in legitimate discussions about the Canadian populace's concerns with immigration (legal, illegal, irregular), it leaves the only conversations to extremists like Faith Goldy. Which in turn legitimizes them. We are seeing where this leads to happening in Europe right now. Which, as an immigrant, concerns me. - My Own Account
Everything you say about Faith Goldy is perfectly true. Eventually she will have to finds a way to make a living, and perhaps, give up her particular brand of nonsense. People like her make it difficult to have more conservative values because they tag along and make everyone look really, really bad. - Redmaple
From Doug Saunders’ column From tragedy to farce: How world leaders learned to laugh at Trump
Trump didn't look uncomfortable to me at all. I don't think he's capable of shame or embarrassment or any other emotion that would indicate humility. It looked more like he thought he'd cracked a joke that everyone got. - MaryJay1
Trump likes to fancy himself to be the alpha male and top dog everywhere he goes, so goes for USA, especially now that he is the president now. But his isolationist thinking actually has diminished the influence of his country in the world stage, let alone the decline in esteem and respect of other (mostly Western democratic) countries. Top dog no more! - MLA from Princeton
World leaders were always laughing at Mr. Trump. They have just started doing it in public. - Mr Constanza
