Britons from all walks of life will soon decide in a nationwide referendum whether to leave the European Union or not. Hundreds of British actors, musicians and other celebrities have put themselves firmly in the "not" camp, signing an open letter urging voters to support staying in the EU. But not all of the nation's celebrities are on board. Try our quiz below to see if you can guess who's on which side. But first, a quick primer on the issues at hand.

THE BASICS

What are Britons being asked? The June 23 referendum question reads as follows: "Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?"

The pro-EU side: Britain joined the European Economic Community in 1973, and is now the EU's second-largest economy after Germany. The pro-EU side says ending that relationship would throw the economy into chaos and leave Britain politically isolated – "an outsider shouting from the wings," as the open letter puts it.

The pro-Brexit side: Anti-immigration sentiment and fears of Europe's ailing economy gained new life in last year's U.K. election with the rise of the euroskeptic U.K. Independence Party. UKIP lost that election, but Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron – who won by a wide and surprising majority – campaigned on a pledge to renegotiate Britain's relationship with the EU.

Canada's position: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau came out in favour of Britain's EU membership, saying "separatism, or division, doesn't seem to be a productive path for countries."
