A woman has been rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after both her legs were run over by a TTC bus near the intersection of Weston Road and Finch Avenue West, police said Wednesday.
Constable Tony Vella said police were called shortly before 4:30 p.m. to the area, after hearing reports that the woman's legs were run over twice.
"Both legs have been severely injured," he said. The woman was taken to a local trauma centre with life-threatening injuries, an ambulance spokeswoman said.
Constable Vella said the woman driving the Toronto Transit Commission bus was "very upset" at the scene.
He said it's unclear so far whether the injured woman was hit at a pedestrian crossing or somewhere else near the intersection. "We're trying to determine the sequence of events."
A TTC spokesperson said the bus had been northbound on Weston Road and that all northbound lanes had been closed in the area as of about 5 p.m. One westbound lane is closed on Finch Avenue West, she said.
Northbound diversions are in place for 165 Weston Road North buses (they are being sent northbound via Finch Avenue West, Signet Drive and Fenmar Drive) while police investigate.
