After a weekend of searching by police and volunteers and a blizzard of postings on social media sites, concern remains high over the whereabouts of a 67-year-old Toronto man who vanished four days ago.
Michael John Hamill, known as Mickey, was last seen Thursday morning in High Park, near the Grenadier Restaurant. He had taken a cab from his Junction-area home and was to have attended a doctor's appointment at St. Joseph's Health Centre later that day.
Since then, there have been several possible sightings of Mr. Hamill, including a couple near the Dufferin Mall, but nothing solid.
His family is worried because it is entirely out of character for him to disappear, but at this point his disappearance is not being treated as suspicious, a police officer at 11 Division said Monday morning.
Joined by volunteers, up to 20 police officers scoured High Park on the weekend, posters of the missing man were tacked up along nearby streets and there were numerous contributions to the search on Twitter and Facebook.
The Twitter hashtag is #helpfindmichaelhamill, and the Facebook page being organized by his family is www.facebook.com/HelpFindMichaelHamill .
Mr. Hamill is described as white, of medium height and build, and was wearing a black leather jacket, grey sweater and a black toque when he was last seen. He may speak with an Irish accent.
Anyone with information about him is asked to call 416 808 1100 or Crime Stoppers at 416 222 8477.
