A second man faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, in connection with a violent weekend bank robbery that left a bank teller and a customer with gunshot wounds.
Lenroy Jackson, 27, was arrested early Wednesday morning in Toronto and was to make a court appearance later in the day.
Police allege he is the shooter in the Sunday holdup, which took place at a Toronto-Dominion bank on St. Clair Avenue in the city's west end.
On Monday, police arrested co-accused André Palmer, 26, of Brampton, who is alleged to have leaped over the bank counter.
Shots were fired after a 54-year-old bank customer confronted one of the robbers and grabbed him in a headlock, police said. The other robber then fired a handgun, striking the 22-year-old teller in the thigh.
The customer, identified as roofer Carl Fraser, then chased the pair out to the parking lot, where a second shot was fired, striking him in the abdomen and seriously injuring him.
The robbers then sped away in a stolen car that was found abandoned three hours later,
Both victims are expected to recover, but Mr. Fraser has had to undergo surgery and remains in hospital.
The Canadian Bankers Association had offered a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects, but Staff Inspector Mike Earl of the holdup squad told reporters Mr. Palmer's arrest stemmed from forensic evidence gathered at the crime scene, and from the getaway car.
