A woman is in custody after the discovery of a man's body in a Scarborough home earlier this week.
Toronto police Staff Sergeant Karl Heilimo said the woman was charged with causing indignity to a body on Thursday. He said the death is classified as suspicious and homicide detectives are monitoring it.
"It's an ongoing investigation," he said. "She's just facing the one charge at this time."
The man's body was discovered near Warden Avenue and Huntingwood Drive on Wednesday afternoon, police said. Staff Sgt. Heilimo said he was unaware of autopsy results and did not release cause of death or ages of the man or woman. He wouldn't say what their relationship was either.
CTV reported that police were called to the home by the woman's landlord and a neighbour, who entered the apartment while the woman was out. The landlord, who lived above the pair, had heard the man yelling a week before, the TV station said.
When the landlord and neighbour entered the apartment, CTV said, they discovered two feet sticking out from beneath a blanket.
Under the Criminal Code, a charge of indignity to a body is applied to someone who allegedly neglects the burial of a dead human or interferes with a body.
