Toronto police are requesting help from witnesses after a hit-and-run in Scarborough Monday night left a woman trapped beneath the car with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The incident happened at 8:40 p.m. at Eglinton Avenue East and Midland Avenue.
The 44-year-old woman and her 11-year-old son were crossing Eglinton, walking north to south on the west side of the intersection, when she was struck by a 1999 Lincoln Navigator heading north on Midland Avenue and turning left into the westbound lanes on Eglinton.
She was trapped under the car and is being treated in hospital.
The driver fled the scene on foot.
He was not the owner of the Navigator, which has been seized and is being examined.
Police would not be more specific about the suspect's identity. The only description of him is that he is a black male.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-1900, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
