Good city. Good Toronto. Here, have a biscuit. You've just been ranked the ninth-friendliest city for dogs in North America.

The third annual Top 10 list, compiled by American website , tried to find cities that had a complete package of dog-friendly places for travellers that welcomed all breeds and sizes.

Toronto won points for its lauded transportation system that allows dogs on all subways and buses. The site also advises visitors about such dog-friendly destinations as Black Creek Pioneer Village, Centreville Amusement Park, the Toronto Islands Park and the dog beach at Kew Gardens.

Toronto did, however, receive a black mark for its "loosely written 'dangerous dog' law that may make your dog, regardless of breed, a potential target of complaints."

The No. 1 city on the list was Chicago, which offers pampered pooches both "upscale hotels that welcome dogs" and "pet-friendly bars."
