Malabar, 14 McCaul This granddaddy of costume stores has been outfitting partygoers for more than 80 years. While it rents and sells classic costumes -- cheerleaders, monks and superheroes -- it has also upped its selection of pimp and 'ho' outfits, which are all the rage.

Morrissey's Magic, 2477 Dufferin Magicians from across North America make pilgrimages to this mecca of magic shops. In addition to props such as trick rope and fortuneteller's balls, the store also carries about 500 rental and 400 retail costumes. Also available are gory limbs that are perfect accessories for ghoulish outfits.

Kids Costumes, 539 Mount Pleasant This midtown Toronto store has more than 300 outfits that range from Halloween-themed bibs and bunting for newborns to lion, tiger and bear costumes for toddlers. Older kids have an array of fairy princess, pirate, cowboy and Lord of the Ring outfits to choose from.

It's My Party, 423 Danforth This 2,500-square-foot funhouse near Danforth and Chester is packed with costumes, wigs, makeup and accessories, such as the ubiquitous brooms and cauldrons. The store also sells dry ice on Halloween weekend. Call 416-469-2223 to reserve a bag.
