Search and rescue crews are on scene at a small plane crash in British Columbia's southern interior.
Canadian Navy search and rescue spokeswoman Capt. Annie Djiotsa says a plane has gone down close to a highway near Brenda Mines, about 22 kilometres west of Peachland in B.C.'s Okanagan region.
Capt. Djiotsa said the first report of the crash came in around 5:14 p.m. local time. It involves a small twin-engine registered to a company, she said. "I don't know if it was used for personal use or commercial use," she said.
Until family members are notified, Capt. Djiotsa said she could not release the number of people involved or the extent of the injuries.
She said police, fire and ambulance services are responding from the Kelowna area. A Cormorant helicopter parachuted in search and rescue technicians, she said.
It's too soon to say if visibility was an issue but there had been low clouds in the area, Capt. Djiotsa said.
