Montreal-based illustrator/artist/turntablist Eric San, better known as Kid Koala, is not content to simply tour the world. The multifaceted illustrator/artist/turntablist could be DJing a crowded, sweaty dance floor in Shanghai, scratching and mixing across eight turntables in New York or hosting a chill "Music to Draw To" evening in a quiet lounge in Toronto. Kid Koala is currently touring his new show, The Slew, a six-turntable ear-bender backed by former members of Australian rockers Wolfmother. His online travel scrapbook alone is worth a visit to kidkoala.com - it surely has more passport stamps than your average backpacker. Here's what he's listening to on the road:

De La Soul - The Magic Number
This track still makes me smile. Check out the all-turntable-scratched third verse.

Public Enemy - Night of the Living Baseheads
It's got such a feeling of panic and urgency.

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/ws-QQC8D3dU&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/ws-QQC8D3dU&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Billie Holiday - Solitude
One of those beautiful quiet-time records.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/z4eXV1FYNc4&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/z4eXV1FYNc4&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Jon Brion/Charlie Kaufman - Little Person
This is probably the best credit-roll song ever.

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/IA_ubhYgjAc&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/IA_ubhYgjAc&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

Helios - Dragonfly Across An Ancient Sky
Sounds like you're sitting somewhere watching the sunrise.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/ON1yNCUhCOc&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/ON1yNCUhCOc&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Radiohead - The Tourist
One of my favourite songs ever from one of my favourite albums ever by one of my favourite bands ever.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/KKc9XW3gBwI&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/KKc9XW3gBwI&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Thelonious Monk - Sophisticated Lady
The flow of his performance on this tune is really start/stop and quirky.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/wgtmtCkPtD0&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/wgtmtCkPtD0&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

The Muppet Show - I'm Going to Go Back There Someday This tune was performed by Gonzo - they always seemed to give Gonzo the really heart-wrenching, melodramatic songs.
