Princess Beatrice

Princess Beatrice, the 19-year-old daughter of the Duke of York and the original Fergie, turned heads last month when she wore a wild Philip Treacy butterfly hat to her cousin's wedding. One of those who took notice must have been Italian designer Roberto Cavalli, who has declared the young royal to be his latest muse. "Beatrice is always great-looking. I'm going to design a few things with her in mind," he told Fashion Week Daily. Yes, the life of a princess is even better than you imagined. She probably has a unicorn tucked away in a garage somewhere.

France

France is still the No. 1 tourist spot in the world, with 82 million foreign visitors last year, its Tourism Ministry announced this week. The real news: The number of visitors from the United States rose 7 per cent last year, quashing the stereotype that Americans think of the French as rude, cowardly snobs. Okay, a lot of them still think that. They just really like their "freedom fries."

Brad Pitt's furniture

The new consumer cycle goes like this: Celebrity shows off cool purse/car/shoes/hair extensions, celeb-crazed public reads about said cool thing in magazine or online, superfans go out and buy what has suddenly become a must-have object. But what happens when the famous person - Brad Pitt, no less - buys weird, arty furniture? We're guessing Us Weekly readers can't afford a $293,000 Jeroen Verhoeven marble table or a $300,000 gold lacquer-coated fibreglass sofa by Zaha Hadid - just two of the purchases Pitt made at Art Basel in Switzerland this week. No matter. The knockoffs will appear soon.
