PERSON
Perez Hilton
Perez Hilton, the Hollywood blogger who loves to tear apart celebrity clothing lines, is launching - say it with me now - his own clothing line. Created for American mall chain Hot Topic, the collection will feature flip-flops, hoodies and T-shirts. "I keep seeing these lines from the likes of Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag that give me nightmares," he said in a statement released this week. "My brand will be very conscious of my audience." Frankly, we're more afraid than ever.
PLACE
The Met
Much has been said of the Costume Institute gala fashion parade that opened the Superheroes exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York ( http://www.metmuseum.org). And, yes, while Anna Wintour was a showstopper in a silver, seashell-inspired Chanel gown, let us put some attention on the exhibit all the celebs were there to celebrate. Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy explores "the symbolic and metaphorical associations between fashion and the superhero." Or, in other words, just why a black leather catsuit is so darned sexy, whether worn by Michelle Pfeiffer or a Dolce & Gabbana model.
THING
Chanel
Big changes are happening at the house of Chanel. French actress Audrey Tautou (best known for Amélie) is replacing Nicole Kidman as the face of Chanel No. 5. Makes sense. Odder is the news, reported in the Daily Mail, that Frances Bean Cobain, the 15-year-old daughter of Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain, could star in a Chanel ad campaign if designer Karl Lagerfeld gets his way. Will she get to wear Converse with her gowns?
