Person

Jennifer Lopez

They say having children changes a woman. And the birth of her twins is the only reason we can think of to explain the latest venture from Jennifer Lopez (as she is now to be called). Her former incarnations - nameless flygirl, Jenny from the Block, J.Lo - wouldn't be caught dead on a program that will focus on Lopez "as she takes on her career and launches a new fragrance while trying to juggle her new responsibilities as a first-time mom," as Learning Channel president Angela Shapiro-Mathes puts it. Of course, those personas also did things like make videos starring Ben Affleck and demand that beauty stores open at midnight for private shopping sprees. As they say, change is good.

Place

McDonald's

McDonald's restaurants in Britain will soon be looking snazzier - and, no, they are not beautifying the Big Mac. The fast-food chain hired couturier Bruce Oldfield (who has fashioned gowns for Sienna Miller, Queen Noor of Jordan and the late Diana, Princess of Wales) to design a range of uniforms (the new look is on the left). Clearly, McDonald's is worried about its image. Two years ago, Mickey Ds introduced Arne Jacobsen-inspired locations, featuring the designer's famous Egg chairs, to Europe. The new uniforms include A-line skirts, star prints and scarves that look "a bit like Louis Vuitton." Most importantly, they come in dark shades of black, grey and mocha - the better to hide grease stains. Work it, girl!

Thing

Labels or Love

This is not a good sign. Labels or Love, the Sex and the City movie theme song recorded by Fergie is terrible. Simply terrible. The music is annoying and the lyrics ... well, they're just offensive. A sample: "Love's like a runway, so what's all the fussing for/ Let's stop chasing them boys and shop some more." We'd never call SATC deep, but this tune is so shallow that if it were a man, even Samantha wouldn't sleep with it.
