NAOMI CAMPBELL

Those in the know speak of the ever-decreasing divide between art and fashion. Well, it doesn't get much closer than this. It was just announced that Naomi Campbell will host the launch of an exhibition of Art Basel Miami this year. The show is photos of her, natch. Nice, glamorous photos. Not the ones where she's clawing at the paparazzi.

NEIMAN MARCUS

There's good publicity and then there's freakin' hilarious publicity. We already knew that Neiman Marcus was one of the stops on Sarah Palin's $150,000 (U.S.) spending spree. Then this week came word from John McCain aides that she and her family behaved like a band of "Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast." Fact is, the upscale department store could use some more crazed shoppers these days: Sales are down 27.6 per cent from last year. A Republican win could have really helped things out.

CANALI

But Neiman Marcus's loss is Canali's gain. President-elect Barack Obama is proving himself to be quite the fashion plate. As he waved to reporters this week, he revealed a Canali label on the inside of his black suit jacket. Now that is publicity money just can't buy.
