Bike courier Nicolas Gagnon, who cycles anywhere from 60 to 90 kilometres five days a week in Vancouver, misses the challenge of working with six feet of snow in downtown Montreal, where first as messenger three years ago. Mr. Gagnon has experienced a couple of accidents in the line of duty and often gets cut off by drivers who don't signal. He doesn't see himself making a career out of being a bike courier, but thinks it's obvious why some do: "You're free, you're outside all the time, keep in shape and meet nice people."

"Awesome, I love it, and it's a lot more challenging than normal work." Nicolas Gagnon
