At a recent scientific conference, Leslie Rescorla, the director of the Child Study Institute at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania, outlined 25 words most two-year-olds have under their belts. In her work on identifying late talkers, Prof. Rescorla has found that the normal range for a 2-year-old is 75 to 225 words. Parents of children who don't use 25 words should consult their family doctor. Here is a sample of words they should be able to say.
