Person Mary J. Blige

Adding a fashionable new feather to her superstar cap, singer Mary J. Blige will release a T-shirt collection in collaboration with designer Catherine Malandrino next week, including floaty tunics with girl-power messages like "I'm Free" and "I'm Power."

Personally, we're hoping they'll feature at least one of her recent tweets. The R&B legend is famously partial to texting-acronyms and exclamation marks.

You go girl! LOL!

Place Italy

Confession: Getting a burger named after us ranks pretty high on our list of fantasy honours.

Which is why we are shocked that Italy doesn't seem to be thrilled with McDonald's new McItaly sandwich.

The burger - which is only available in Italy - is made of Italian beef topped with artichoke spread and Asiago cheese and even comes wrapped in paper the colours of the Italian flag.

Party-pooper critics are saying the sandwich makes a mockery of Italy's rich culinary history, with one drama queen calling it "a monstrous act of national betrayal."

How delicious.

Thing The American Apparel Diet

While it sounds like something that hungry, frantic wannabe models might be into, the Great American Apparel Diet actually has nothing to do with AA. It's something much cooler.

The GAAD project involves dozens of women from across the world who have decided to abstain from buying new clothing for one calendar year in an effort to limit waste and consumption. (See www.thegreatamericanappareldiet.com for details.)

Hmm, it's a noble cause and all, but no new clothes for 12 months? Better you than us, ladies.
