A Vancouver gala celebrates the latest book in Louis Vuitton's Fashion Eye series, while a Toronto event celebrated the launch of Linda Evangelista's new skincare line

Louis Vuitton launches Fashion Eye British Columbia by Solve Sundsbo, Vancouver

Louis Vuitton's continuing series of delightful photography books, Fashion Eye, takes readers to exotic locales through the work of renowned fashion photographers. This past fall, five new volumes were added, among them Monte Carlo captured by the late-great Helmut Newton, New York by Saul Leiter, Berlin by Peter Lindbergh and British Columbia by Norwegian-born, London-based photographer Solve Sundsbo, who captured the unparalleled beauty of the Selkirk Mountains – a place familiar to the lensman, who for the better part of a decade has skied their plush surfaces. To launch the latter tome here on Canadian soil, a party was held on Jan. 18 at Vuitton's Hotel Vancouver location by store director Allison Coutts, giving clients a chance to meet the man behind the 41 captivating photographs that make up the new book.

Holt Renfrew plays Host to Linda Evangelista and Erasa, Toronto

It was a homecoming of sorts for Linda Evangelista, the St. Catharines, Ont.-born model who, in the late 1980s and 90s, took the world of fashion by storm. She became the go-to for designers such as Karl Lagerfeld and the late Gianni Versace, and the choice girl for famed photographers such as Steven Meisel and Peter Lindbergh – her famous face has appeared on more than 700 magazine covers. Evangelista was in Toronto recently to represent her latest role. She's the face, vice-president and creative brain behind the new skincare line Erasa, which launched exclusively across Canada at Holt Renfrew. On Jan. 30, to mark the introduction of the line, Holt Renfrew's president Mario Grauso, a long-time friend of Evangelista, held a dinner in her honour for 40-or-so scene regulars at Holt Renfrew's Bloor Street location.
