After his controversies and confrontations with the law in 2014, Justin Bieber can at least say that he won Twitter for the year.
End-of-year statistics released by the social media company showed Mr. Bieber sent the year’s most retweeted tweet from a Canadian’s account, an all-caps message of support to his fans sent the day after his Jan. 23 arrest for an alleged drag-racing incident in Miami. Bieber was initally charged with driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest, but in August he pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of careless driving.
YOU ARE ALL WORTHY NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS >> BE STRONG GOD IS WITH US ALL> MY BELIEBERS CHANGED MY LIFE> I WILL FOREVER BE GRATEFUL
— Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) January 24, 2014
With some 57.5 million followers to his name, more than any other Canadian Twitter celebrity, it’s no wonder Mr. Bieber topped the charts for retweets this year. His mother, author and film producer Pattie Malette, had the eighth most-followed Canadian account on Twitter, and Mr. Bieber’s father, Jeremy – who joined the social-media site in January after his son’s DUI arrest – was No. 14.
