Cattle graze at sunset near Cochrane, Alta., on June 8, 2023.Jeff McIntosh/The Canadian Press

On any given day in June, nearly five hours pass between the moment people in St. John’s say goodbye to the sun and the people in Vancouver, watch it slip over the horizon.

From coast to coast, under different sky conditions and tilts of the earth, Canadians can’t help but be dazzled by how nature flaunts the end of the day, no matter where we’re sitting: at the edge of the continent, by the shore of a great lake or on the fields of the Prairies.

To celebrate Canada’s beauty ahead of Canada Day, we want readers to share their sunset captures, whether taken on a smartphone or with top-notch camera gear.

So start scrolling through your camera roll and send us your best work. We will publish our favourites on theglobeandmail.com to share them with our readers.

To submit your photo, email audience@globeandmail.com with:

  • Your full name
  • The image file in .jpg format at least 1mb in size
  • Where the photo was taken (be as specific as possible)
  • The date the photo was taken
  • Some words about what makes it such a great photograph

If you have any difficulty sharing your photo as an email attachment, let us know by sending an email to audience@globeandmail.com and we will try to help.

Submissions will close at 11:59 p.m. on June 24.

The information you share will only be used for journalistic purposes, though not all responses will necessarily be published. The Globe and Mail may contact you if someone would like to interview you for a story.
