Rogers Communications Inc was incorporated on October 20, 1987. The Company is a diversified Canadian communications and media company, incorporated in Canada, with substantially all of its operations and sales in Canada. The Companys segments include Wireless, Cable, Business Solutions (RBS), and Media. The Companys Wireless segment provides retail and business voice and data wireless communications services. It provides wireless voice and advanced high-speed data communication services to subscribers across Canada under the Rogers, Fido and Chatr brands The Company offers wireless devices and applications including, wireless voice and enhanced voice features, wireless home phone, global voice and data roaming, Rogers AnyPlace TV, among others. Through its Cable and RBS segments, the Company provides cable television services, high-speed Internet access, and telephony services to both consumers and businesses. The digital two-way hybrid fibre-coaxial network provides services including, programming includes high-definition television (HDTV), digital specialty, multicultural and sports programming, personal video recorders (PVRs) and Whole Home PVR, among others. Through its Media segment, the Company is engaged in radio and television broadcasting, digital media, televised shopping, publication and distribution, and sports entertainment. The Company competes with national and regional operators as well as smaller new entrants for wireless services. All of its business activities, except for Cables Video segment and the non-broadcasting operations of Media, are subject to regulation by one or more of Canadian Federal Department of Industry, on behalf of the Minister of Industry (Canada) (Industry Canada), the CRTC under the Telecommunications Act (Canada) (Telecommunications Act) and the CRTC under the Broadcasting Act (Canada).
