Global Stock Markets

Canadian Markets

Canada’s main stock index climbed  by almost 0.75 percent, even with backdrop of declining commodity prices, including a nearly 3 percent drop in oil and moderate losses in gold.

American Markets

American stocks also  gained, buoyed by a robust 3 percent annualized growth in the economy for the second quarter, surpassing economists’ expectations of 2.9 percent. This stronger-than-anticipated economic performance reflects resilience amid global uncertainties and has contributed to a more favorable outlook for American companies.

European Markets

European stocks  rose sharply on the optimism from Chinese stimulus, hoping it will benefit European economies.

UK Stocks rose moderately as the pound gained, holding back the rally.  More data show that the UK’s economy is outperforming most of its peers.

Asian Markets

Chinese stocks soared over 3 percent on Thursday, as Beijing and local governments unveiled more stimulus programs to help invigorate China’s economy.

Japanese markets rose over 2 percent as Chinese optimism spilled over to the Nikkei, as the index was propelled by chip stocks.
