Canadian equities finished the first half of 2015 in positive territory, as both the S&P/TSX composite and the S&P/TSX 60 were up 1 per cent.
Health care was the strongest sectoral performer, gaining 58 per cent in the first half of 2015. The energy sector declined 5 per cent and weighed down Canadian equity benchmarks.
The S&P 500 managed to eke out a 1-per-cent gain in the first half of 2015 after significant market turbulence, while the Dow Jones industrial average ended June flat on the year.
