DEALS OF THE WEEK

Check out some of the best deals this week on luxury hybrid vehicles

As North American auto show season kicked off last week in Detroit and Montreal, the steady stream of announcements from auto makers painted a future that looks increasingly electrified and luxurious.

While Elon Musk and Tesla may be the highest-profile champions for sustainable transportation, many mainstream auto makers are now going all in on electrification. Today, nearly every major auto maker produces at least one hybrid or plug-in electric model. Soon, many auto makers will have entirely electric fleets. Swedish auto maker Volvo Cars announced last year that every vehicle it launches from 2019 onward will have an electric motor – either hybrid or fully battery-powered. Infiniti announced last week that it will introduce only fully or partially electric vehicles after 2021. And giants such as Ford, General Motors and Daimler have all announced many billions of dollars of investments to launch dozens of new battery electric and fuel cell models in the next five years. Even Porsche and Lamborghini are working on electric super cars with the Mission E and Terzo Millennio respectively.

Luxury auto makers are also experiencing a renaissance as the market share of luxury brands hit a new peak in 2017, representing nearly 12 per cent of all new vehicles sold in Canada. The rise in the luxury segment is clearly seen in the number of new and growing luxury booths at each auto show. New entrants from new brands and stalwarts are capturing the attention of new consumers. The Alfa Romeo Giulia was recently named the 2018 Motor Trend Car of the Year. The Genesis G70 compact sports sedan just had its North American debut at the Montreal auto show and is now available for online preorder for first delivery in the spring. And the Jaguar XE, introduced last year, helped lead the brand to record sales in 2017. All three of these highly anticipated new entrants come as exciting disruptors to the traditional rivalry in the luxury compact sports sedan segment between BMW's 3-Series, Mercedes-Benz's C-Class and Audi's A4.

We've featured some of our favourite offers this week on luxury hybrid vehicles. If you don't find an offer that suits you, be sure to check out the new Globe Drive Build and Price Tool to see the latest incentives and discounts on any new car, truck or SUV.
