What is it
The 2017 Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport. It is a near-standard racing version of the GT4, being market to "motorsport newcomers". Hold on to your seats. Available only by special order, it's described by new Porsche North America president Klaus Zilmer as the "perfect bridge from club racing to more serious amateur competition."
Signature feature
Weighing a relatively light 1,300 kg, the Clubsport is ready to rumble with a welded-in safety cage, racing bucket seat and six-point harness.
What else is new
Porsche Doppelkupplung with shift paddles on the steering wheel. The spring strut front suspension is borrowed from the 911 GT3 Cup, which runs in 20 Porsche races around the world. To navigate straightaway to tight cornering, the brakes are made of steel rotors, relatively large at 380 millimetres each in diameter.
Under the hood
As with the standard production of the Cayman GT4, the Clubsport is equipped with a 3.8 litre, flat-six, 385-horsepower mid-engine. Power is transfered to the rear axle via double-clutch transmission. The chassis has been modified to racing mode.
