Oshawa’s tent cities a symbol of the city’s struggle with poverty
Patrick Dell
Oshawa, about an hour east of Toronto, is a city in transition. While it has a growing economy in some areas, others are racked with deep poverty. As a result, there are tent cities in forested areas where the homeless make do. The Globe visited one such city with a pair of volunteers. This video has been updated to remove an erroneous reference to Oshawa not having a women's shelter.
