Toronto police say four people were killed overnight after a vehicle struck a wall in a single-vehicle accident and caught fire.
A fifth female passenger in the vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Toronto police spokeswoman Const. Laurie McCann says police received a call at approximately 12:13 a.m. to respond to an incident in the area of Lakeshore Blvd. and Cherry St. near the city’s downtown.
McCann says that once on the scene, the officers obtained entry into the vehicle to find four of the five occupants dead.
Roads around the accident remained closed Thursday morning.
McCann says the investigation is ongoing.
