A child has been hit and killed by a vehicle in Kelowna, B.C.

A release from the Kelowna RCMP says it happened Sunday afternoon on a residential street in the northeast part of the city.

The statement says specialized collision analysts are working with the detachment to determine what happened.

Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy says investigators are searching for witnesses.

The BC Coroners Service has also been notified.

Noseworthy says no further information is being released.
