A former treasurer of a Little League baseball organization in Coquitlam, B.C., is facing charges after $150,000 went missing from the group’s bank account.

Mounties say the 65-year-old woman was charged this week with fraud and theft over $5,000 after an investigation that lasted 2½ years.

The league reported the missing money to the RCMP in August, 2020, and said in a statement then that it noticed the money missing when members didn’t receive their refund for the season that had been cancelled by the pandemic.

Police say the woman charged was the treasurer from September, 2014, to August, 2020.

Sergeant Karrie Ellis with the Coquitlam RCMP says police worked diligently to gather evidence, identify and interview witnesses, and support charges.

The woman has been released from custody until her next court appearance.
