Toronto police say they have arrested a suspect who they believe shot an officer during an investigation.

Police issued an update shortly after 10:15 p.m. to say the suspected shooter had been arrested.

Two others were arrested earlier in the evening, including one person at the scene near Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue.

Chief Myron Demkiw says the officer who was shot had serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the shooting took place around 5:30 p.m. after officers stopped a vehicle while conducting an investigation.

Ontario’s police watchdog says an officer fired a gun at the scene, but a suspect was not hit.
