Saskatchewan RCMP are seeking tips after finding human remains in a landfill on a First Nation.

Mounties say the remains were found this week at the Big Island Lake Cree Nation, 380 kilometres northwest of Saskatoon.

RCMP say a forensic autopsy was completed, with the results showing the remains aren’t connected to recent missing persons from the area.

The historical case unit has now taken over the file.

RCMP say it’s working with various agencies and the First Nation to determine the identity of the remains.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Pierceland RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers.
