Police have arrested a 47-year-old man related to an alleged homicide in Quebec’s Laurentians region.

Provincial police began investigating the case on Wednesday after receiving reports of suspected gunshots in Saint-Lin-Laurentides around 3:30 p.m.

The victim, a 51-year-old man, died of gunshot wounds in hospital later that day.

Police arrested the suspect in Saint-Lin-Laurentides, a community about 70 kilometres north of Montreal, on Friday evening.

Quebec provincial police spokesperson Élizabeth Marquis-Guy says he is scheduled to appear in court via videoconference on Saturday.

She says the investigation is ongoing.
