Montreal police are investigating the suspicious death of an 88-year-old man in the city’s Ahuntsic-Cartierville neighbourhood.

Emergency services were called to a residence on Joseph-Casavant street just after midnight today.

Police spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils says first responders found the 88-year-old lifeless and with upper body injuries. He was declared dead on site.

The man’s 86-year-old partner was also found with upper body injuries, but is expected to survive.

She was taken to hospital and was expected to meet with police once her health allowed.

Police said an autopsy will be carried out to help investigators better understand the circumstances surrounding the death.
