Health Canada is warning Canadians to stop using two types of car seats they say do not meet safety standards.
The regulator says the products called “Child Secure Seatbelt Vest” and “Toddler Child Car Booster Seat” could increase the risk of injury in a collision.
The two products were sold in different colours through the online joygeneralstore.com and may have also been sold in other online marketplaces.
The restraints have not been certified by Transport Canada to meet safety requirements.
The recall notice says using them is illegal under provincial and territorial highway regulations.
Transport Canada urges caution when buying car seats online. It says shoppers should always check that these products have a National Safety Mark featuring a maple leaf in the centre of a circular label.
More information and a photo of the products can be found here.
