Rhéal Séguin is a contributing writer and political correspondent for The Globe and Mail. Born and educated in southern Ontario, he completed his undergraduate degree in political science at York University and a master's degree in political science at the Université du Québec à Montréal.
Rhéal has practised journalism since 1978, first with Radio-Canada in radio and television and then with CBC Radio. He joined The Globe and Mail in Quebec City in 1990.
He has covered Quebec politics extensively since 1988, experiencing first-hand the debates involving Quebec's political future that included the 1992 and 1995 referendums; the rise and fall of the Bloc Québécois on the federal level; as well as several provincial and federal elections.
