Podcast

Madeleine White has been a producer for The Globe’s daily news podcast, The Decibel, since its launch in 2021. During this time, she has covered elections, budgets, the war in Ukraine, business news, climate change, and, when the news cycle permits it, even the occasional science story.

Prior to working on The Decibel, Madeleine was the Senior Audience Editor for The Globe’s Western Canada coverage. She has also been the Assistant National News Editor, helping coordinate coverage on major national events like the Manitoba manhunt, the Toronto van attack, and the Quebec mosque shooting.

She started her career at The Globe as a writer for the Life section before becoming a producer and host for The Globe’s video team, where she produced several mini-docs including a piece about Indigenous education in Thunder Bay.

Why did you become a journalist?

Journalism was the only way to be paid to be a life-long learner of new things. And as corny as it sounds, I believe in the power of information to create change.
